If ever you’ve played base building games before and your biggest regret about them is that you can’t take the base you’ve spent dozens of hours building around with you, then you’re in luck because this upcoming co-op Action RPG literally has a moving base for you, albeit the world around you in this game, RailGods of Hysterra, isn’t exactly a nice one.
Developer Troglobytes Games and publisher Digital Vortex Entertainment recently released a new trailer for the game, showcasing the first biome that will become available once RailGods of Hysterra enters Steam Early Access in 2025. In the trailer, players can see some of the Lovecraftian creatures they’ll be facing in the game, as well as the hellish procedural worlds of Hysterra.
In RailGods of Hysterra, the world has become overrun by supernatural cosmic horrors, with the world devastated by The Great Old Ones. Players and up to four of their friends can join together in this Survival Action RPG with base-building elements braving an everchanging world that continually spawns beings out to kill you and your friends.
Playing as a Dreamer, your soul is bound to a RailGod, a roaming fortress composed of steel and flesh forged through obscure arcane rituals. Surviving in this desolate new world isn’t enough, you also have to feed your monstrous, evolving train the flesh of your enemies. In return, your RailGod offers you a bastion from the otherworldy beings hunting you from the outside, giving you boons and powers to increase your survivability, and most importantly, lets you ride it for a chill journey across the apocalyptic landscape.
To aid you in your excursions, you can craft your own gear and weapons, and upgrade your living mobile base. Once you and your friends are ready, you can start facing The Great Old Ones and bring some semblance of order back to the world. But if you’re not ready, well, The Great Old Ones aren’t going to wait around for you, either.
In any case, you can now wishlist the game on Steam to get more information and updates about the game once it becomes ready for play next year.
