Assassin's Creed Shadows Release Date Delayed

Ubisoft’s controversial upcoming title, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, experiences yet another setback, as the game’s release date has just been moved once again to March 20, 2025.

Previously in September, Assassin’s Creed Shadows had a release date of February 14, 2025, moved from a November 2024. The game is still slated to be released on the PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox Series X/S, macOS, and iPadOS.

According to Ubisoft’s announcement, the reason for the delay is to give the developers time to implement feedback from the community.

Hounded by controversy thanks to a series of poor releases, anti-consumer sentiments from executives, and the decision to choose the historical figure Yasuke as one of the game’s two main characters (the other being a woman, which didn’t help their case for many toxic gamers,) Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ second delay has received mixed reactions from fans.

Some people have shared positive sentiments, citing that a game shouldn’t come out until it’s ready and that putting more polish and adding development time is welcome. However, some have cynically pointed out that the delay is likely more due to the release of high-profile releases in February, including Civilization VII, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, and Monster Hunter Wilds.

Ubisoft’s most recent Assassin’s Creed title, Mirage, was released in October 5, 2023.
