Victor Wembanyama, the San Antonio Spurs’ 21-year-old starting Center, is already 95 OVR (+3) in NBA 2K25, following a Player Ratings update today. This is the fastest rise in OVR rating for a rookie in their sophomore year. Derrick Rose, one of the best early bloomers in NBA history, took two years before reaching a 95 OVR rating, a feat that Wemby achieved in just one.
This follows an impressive December outing and starting the year strong, as Wembanyama has become the fastest player in NBA history to reach 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, and 150 blocks at 100 games, averaging 23 points, 14.8 rebounds, and 4 blocks over the past five games prior to this update. Aside from being a candidate for this year’s DPOY, you can now include him in MVP considerations as well.
Meanwhile, Wemby’s teammates Harrison Barnes (78 OVR) and Stephon Castle (78 OVR) both regressed with -1 ratings in this update.
Interestingly, even though Wemby already is part of the All-Time Spurs team in NBA 2K25, his 95 OVR rating still isn’t enough for him to surpass either Tim Duncan or David Robinson to replace them in the starting lineup.
Wemby’s performance in his second year in the NBA is nothing short of astronomic, and we’re left to wonder whether we’re already seeing his early prime, or if this is still just the beginning for the young Frenchman, set to break NBA 2K’s rating scale in the future.
Other players in the league who received increases in their OVR rating in the latest update include Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (+1, now 98), Karl-Anthony Towns (+1, now 93), Evan Mobley (+1, now 89) and Jarren Jackson, Jr. (+1, now 89). The full list of changes can be found here.
