Pokémon Day 2025 proved to be a festive celebration of 29 years of Pokémon, with The Pokémon Company, alongside Nintendo and GAME FREAK, announcing upcoming new content, activities, and video games for fans to enjoy for the coming year through Pokémon Presents. Here are all of the things announced in Pokémon Day 2025.
Pokémon Champions
A new game for the Nintendo Switch family of systems and on mobile devices developed by The Pokémon Works in collaboration with GAME FREAK, Pokémon Champions continues the tradition of Trainers putting their skills against those of others from around the world with the goal of allowing core game-style battles to be enjoyed by more players than ever before. The game will support Pokémon HOME, allowing players to import a limited selection of Pokémon from Scarlet and Violet and Pokémon GO.
Meant to be a competitive-focused experience, Pokémon Champions will allow players to challenge each other in both Casual and Ranked Battles. Confirmed to be part of the game are the Mega Evolution and Terrastallization mechanics, introduced in Pokémon X & Y and Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, respectively.
There is no confirmed release date yet for Pokémon Champions.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A
The second Pokémon Legends game was announced for the Nintendo Switch family of systems. Set to launch in late 2025 and to take place in Lumiose City of the Kalos Region, this spin-off game further improves on the Pokémon experience with innovations in battle and exploration.
For the first time in the series, players can now directly control their Pokémon in battle, allowing them to manually evade attacks. The confirmed Partner Pokémon for the game are Chikorita, Totodile, and Tepig. Similar to Pokémon Legends: Arceus, players will be able to catch Pokémon in third-person view by throwing Pokéballs at them without having to enter battle first. Mega Evolution will be a returning mechanic in Pokémon Legends: Z-A.
There’s a high chance that Pokémon Legends: Z-A will be among the first games to be released after the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2.

New Pokémon Concierge are coming this September
The Pokémon animated series made using claymation techniques will have a new season arriving in September, bringing with it new episodes for fans to cozy up and vibe to. Meanwhile, fans will be able to watch the first four episodes of Pokémon Concierge on The Official Pokémon YouTube Channel until March 9, 2025.
Personally, I’m looking forward to the new Pokémon Legends: Z-A game. I was a big fan of Pokémon Legends: Arceus when it came out, feeling that it was the superior game over Pokémon Scarlet & Violet among the games that came out on the Nintendo Switch. Given that the Nintendo Switch 2 will also be coming out this year, it also feels like it’s time for a new Pokémon game to come around as well.
