Genshin Impact gets a fiery new update as players can now explore the Great Volcano of Tollan and its ancient city in the version 5.5 update, “Day of the Flame’s Return.”
Located towards the Southwest of Natlan, players will be able to explore the Great Volcano of Tollan, within which lies an ancient, sacred city. Before getting there, players will also encounter the Collective of Plenty, a tribe that lives just near Tollan. Accompanying them in this journey are new playable characters Varesa and Iansan, alongside the Saurian companion Tatankasaurus, all three opening new combat and exploration experiences for players to enjoy.
Among the players’ new companions for this adventure are 5-Star Electro Catalyst user Varesa. She can trigger her Fiery Passion state by using Plunging Attacks. While in this state, she deals more Electro DMG and can access a special Elemental Burst, with reduced Energy Cost. Varesa can easily get into this state because her combo that starts with her Elemental Skill followed by her Normal Attack leads to a Plunging Attack. While a formidable foe in battle, Varesa is a actually very laid-back and peaceful in her daily life.
Meanwhile, Iansan is a 4-Star Electro Polearm wielder. Iansan is Varesa’s mentor and is one of Natlan’s six heroes. She provides powerful support to her allies through healing and enhanced DMG for in-field characters. Her Elemental Burst is perfect for chain attacks, as even after she leaves the battlefield, her ATK buff for the on-field character persists, with the ATK scaling with her teammate’s movement distance while the buff is active.
In the first phase of version 5.5’s Event Wishes, Varesa and Iansan will debut alongside Xianyun’s rerun, followed by reruns for Xilonen and Venti.
But the adventures in Tollan aren’t all fun and dandy, as the players will also encounter a new boss, the Lava Dragon Statue, awaiting in the geothermal fissures of the volcano.
As for events, Natlan’s Bloomflower Trials are back. Players can team up with Mavuika, Ifa, and other Natlan allies for this event, and save brave Saurian afflicted by a rare illness. The Saurian Treasure Seeker mini-game also appears in version 5.5, where players can assist a group of baby Saurians in their quest to overcome obstacles and collect shiny treasures. By taking part in this event, players will be able to invite Ororon for free.
