Siege X Dual Front

We’re still three months away from the next major Rainbow Six Siege update coming to Rainbow Six Siege’s Year 10 Season 2, but we’ve already gotten a taste of what’s coming for Siege X, ushering in the game’s new era, as the game enters free-to-play with a brand-new, faster-paced game mode that’s set to freshen up the game’s experience.

Select players have also been able to play the new Dual Front game mode during the closed beta that has been running since March 13 and will run until tomorrow, March 19. Dual Front is the new permanent game mode coming to Siege X that sets 6v6 players on a massive map that forces players to engage in urban warfare on Attack and Defend at the same time. A fully separate mode, fans should feel assured that Dual Front is not here to replace the core game modes, as Dual Front will co-exist with the same game modes players already know and love.

Rainbow Six Siege’s Year 10 Season 2 will be coming on June 10, 2025, the same time the game goes free-to-play.

Fans who are interested in seeing how Siege X plays out can watch their favorite content creators who have had access to the Closed Beta and through early access in press-exclusive events. Twitch drops are enabled during the closed beta period as long as your Twitch and Ubisoft accounts are linked. Meanwhile, pro players will also be showing off their skills ahead of the June 10 release during the RELOAD esports competition set from May 8-18 at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Dual Front will be featuring a mode-exclusive map called the District, divided into sectors that players will have to simultaneously defend and capture. 35 different operators will be enabled for Dual Front at all times, rotating twice every season. Apart from capturing enemy sectors, there are also time-limited assignments that could occur in neutral sectors that teams could vie over to help them achieve their objectives if completed. Just like the rest of the game, Dual Front will receive regular updates.

Aside from Dual Front, Siege X will visually enhance Siege with new lighting, shadows, and up to 4K textures. Clubhouse, Chalet, Border, Bank, and Kafe will be enhanced at launch, with three more maps modernized each season. New gameplay features are also expected to enhance the tactical aspect of the game, including destructible ingredients like fire extinguishers, gas pipes, and metal detectors. Rappeling also gets an improvement with more fluid controls. Finally, audio also gets a revamp with better audio propagation and reverberation, allowing players to lean more into their audio for tactical advantage. Siege X will also add a new communication wheel as well as a new onboarding experience for new players, and an updated Pick and Ban System will also be introduced.

Finally, Siege X will introduce R6 ShieldGuard, an improved anti-cheat system that unifies all of R6’s existing anti-cheat initiatives.

Again, once Siege X rolled out on June 10, Rainbow Six Siege will enter free-to-play. New players will have access to Dual Front, Unranked, and Quick Play modes at no charge, and can obtain up to 26 operators without spending any money through gameplay progression. However, players will have to upgrade to premium editions to play Ranked and Siege Cup. Current players will continue to have access to all unlocked content and will not be affected by these changes.
