Announced at the same time as the debut of Raw on Netflix, WWE 2K25 is officially on the way. Fans of the wrestling sports simulation series can now wishlist the game on Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox, with more details along with pre-order details slated for January 28, 2025.
WWE 2K25 is believed to be before the end of March as previous earnings calls pegged the game for a Q4 Fiscal 2025 release, meaning between January and March 2025. Given that the title will begin pre-orders only when new information arrives on January 28th, the most likely release schedule for the game would be in March. We’ll find out how to pre-order and for how much when the first trailers come out by then.
WWE 2K25 is also expected to ship with multiple post-launch DLCs slated for release, scheduled strategically between March 2025 and December 2025, rolling out new content to keep the playerbase engaged throughout the game’s shelf life.
WWE 2K25 follows several of 2K’s WWE 2K wrestling simulation games, which the publisher has been releasing since WWE 2K14. Apart from a year they skipped in 2021, WWE 2K has been released every year, updating the game’s roster, animations, and entrances, with the core gameplay mostly retained between games.
Various game modes were added to the series over the course of the last few entries. WWE 2K22 introduced MyRISE, the story-driven game mode that replaced MyCAREER, following separate storylines between male and female player-created wrestlers. WWE 2K23 introduced the WarGames match type and added the polarizing arcade-style MyFACTION game mode as well as the fan-requested MyGM Mode. WWE 2K24, meanwhile, focused on additional match types such as casket and ambulance matches, special referee matches, and improvements to MyFACTION and MyGM.
We don’t know yet what WWE 2K25 has in store for players this year. The goodwill 2K received from skipping WWE 2K21 in favor of an overhaul of the game system is running out, as the community is growing impatient from persistent issues that have been present in the succeeding games, such as in community creations and in Universe Mode. Unless 2K addresses these issues this year, we can expect a lot of fans skipping this outing.
